Abstract

Objective To evaluate the effect of gentamicin and saline in hand injury debridement. Methods The total of 102 hand-injury patients were randomly divided into two groups when debridement,45 cases were given gentamicin, and 57 cases were given saline. All operations were finished by one physician, according to the postoperative medical schedule. The wound information was recorded within the first twelve days. Results The infectious rates of gentamicin and saline were 17.78% and 22.81% respectively, the averagement was 20.9%.There were no significant differences between gentamicin and debridement(χ~2=0.39,P0.05).Conclusions The postoperative infectious rates aren't decreased by using geomycine compared with saline when debriding.
