Abstract

Objective To compare the efficacy and safety of escitalopram and duloxetine in the treatment of depression. Methods 60 outpatients were randomly assigned to escitalopram group and duloxetine group with 8 weeks treatment. Each group included 30 cases. They were all diagnosed by CCMD-3.HAMD was used to assess the efficacy and TESS to assess the side effects. Results The efficacy at the point of week1,4,8 was 10.00%,83.33%,93.33% in escitalopram group, while 3.33%,63.33%,80.00% in duloxetine group. There was no significant difference between the efficacy in the two groups(P0.05).There was no difference between HAMD scores of two groups(P0.05).In escitalopram group,10% of cases had side effects, the rate was 16.7% in duloxetine group. The difference was not statistical significant. Conclusion Escitalopram was as effective and safe as duloxetine in the treatment of depression after 8 weeks' treatment.
