Abstract
Rutin content of 17 eggplant varieties was determined and their heterosis was analyzed. The results showed that there were highly significant differences among 17 eggplant varieties (strains), and rutin content of eggplant hybrids was predominant over their parents. Rutin content in leaves was higher than in fruit and content in commodity fruit was higher than in nascent fruit. The highest rutin content was 57.08 mg/g in Suzhou 94-2-95-1-0-99-1 commodity fruit, and the lowest was 18.43 mg/g in Zishui. Negative correlation was shown between rutin content of commodity fruit and leaf index, r= -0.5100.
