Abstract

Objective To investigate factors associated with seeking Voluntary Counseling and Testing(VCT) service among female sex workers(FSWs).Methods A community-based survey was conducted to investigate demographic characteristics, knowledge and attitude, sex service in FSWs.Results Among 573 FSWs, only 14.0% had ever seek VCT service before. According multivariate logistic regression analysis results, FSWs who were working at type C entertainment place(OR=0.35;96%CI:0.16,0.79), know 3 paths of HIV transmission (OR=2.59;97%CI:1.43,4.69), got some sexually transmitted infections(STIs) during last year (OR=2.75;98%CI:1.59,4.76), did not want to show ID card while catch HIV testing service (OR=0.43;100%CI:0.25,0.74) were independently associated with the use of VCT service among FSWs.Conclusion The results showed that the level of the use of VCT service among FSWs was very low. It is suggested that we should strength promotion on VCT among FSWs, and also need to explore more effective strategies for HIV testing and counseling .
