Abstract
The drag chain in south Fujian dialect of Longyan was composed of raising and monophthongization. The chain shift began from high vowel-u becoming higher by means of frictionating. The umlaut ouu followed, while vowel-u still raised by means of apicalization and vowel breaking. These changes dragged rime-o to-uu,so the rime-ua became-o to fill the vacancy. The umlaut in the front vowel was similar to the back one. After the high vowel-i elevating, the category of rime-e and-e rose in order which was decided by the position of vowel. The south Fujian dialect of Longyan doesn't have the umlaut aie paralleled with uao,but probably it would have in the near future.
