Abstract
Objective To explore the effects of psychological status on quality of sleep of patients with primary hypertension.Methods Eighty-four patients with primary hypertension were investigated by using the symptom checklist-90(SCL-90), Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS), Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) and inventory of sleep quality. The more score of the SCL-90 was, the more psychological problems of patients appeared .The patients were divided into two group by SDS and SAS scores, then the total scores of sleep quality and the scores of various factors in patients with primary hypertension were compared.Results Eighty-four questionnaires were complete and qualified. The scores of somatization, interpersonal relation,depression, anxiety, phobia and paranoia in SCL-90 in patients with primary hypertension were significantly higher than those in the normal controls(P0.05).There were 31 cases of depression(depression group) in patients with primary hypertension (36.9%) whose SDS score ≥50, and 35 cases of anxiety (anxiety group) (41.7%) whose SAS score≥50. The total scale of sleep quality, and the scales of sleep latency,sleep maintenance, sleep self-evaluation, total sleep time in the depression group were obviously higher than those in the control group (P0.05).The total scale of sleep quality, and the scales of sleep latency, sleep maintenance, sleep self-evaluation, total sleep time in the anxiety group were obviously higher than those in the control group (P0.05).Conclusion The patients with primary hypertension have obvious psychological symptoms such as depression and anxiety,they seriously influence quality of sleep of patients with primary hypertension.
