Abstract
Objective: To investigate the efficiency and safety of treatment of elevated intracranial pressure(ICP) of severe head injury patients with 3% hypertonic saline(HS).Methods: Clinical data of 37 severe head injury patients were analyzed retrospectively. Results: ICP of the patients treated via 3% HS decreased more obviously, which happened more quickly and lasted longer. The elevation of mean arterial pressure and cerebral perfusion pressure of the patients in HS group was higher than that in mannitol group, while fewer hyponatrimia happened in HS group. Conclusion: 3% HS should be considered to be the first-line osmotic drugs for elevated intracranial pressure of the severe head injury patients.
