Abstract

OBJECTIVE To investigate the features of polysomnogruphy(PSG)in children with sleep disordered breathing.METHODS A total of 160 children who came to Beijing Tongren Hospital Sleep Center in 2007 to 2008 because of complained of snoring were monitored with PSG.The results of PSG were analyzed according to2007-Urumqi-protocol guide for OSAHS in children. The children were divided into OSAHS group and non-OSAHS group(primary snoring group,PS group) according to the PSG results.RESULTS There were 68 children(42.5%)proved to be diagnosed as OSAHS and 92 children(57.5%)as primary snoring. The OAI exceeded 1 in 50 cases and AHI exceeded 5 in 63 cases. There was no statistically significant difference in the parameters such as gender, age, weight and BMI in the different degrees of OSAHS.CONCLUSION PSG is an important method to distinguish PS from OSAHS in children.Central sleep apnea should not be ignored in children.
