Abstract
Based on analyzing the characteristics of the graptolite faunas from the Dawan Formation at Huanghuachang section, Yichang(central Yangtze Platform) and the Meitan Formation at Chengkou section, Chongqing(northern Yangtze Platform), respectively, combining with the results from Chongyi area, Jiangxi(basin facies) and Jiangnan transitional belt, the authors discussed the correlation between graptolite and conodont fauna as well as the differentiation of graptolite biofacies at the Lower/Middle Ordovician boundary interval in South China. Consequently, the authors consider that the Huanghuachang section fulfills the requirements for a GSSP and the FAD of conodont Baltoniodus triangularis is a good proxy for the base of Middle Ordovician.
