Abstract
Following issues are discussed in the paper: tracing the concept of back to heritage science; the translation of in Chinese; the cognitive development of heritage science to the concept of authenticity. The paper also makes a comment of objectiveist authenticity, existentialist and postmodernist that appear in contemporary tourism science from the preference of tourists' values. Finally the application of the concept of authenticity to cultural and heritage tourism is summarized.
