Abstract
Objectives To explore the effects of Simvastatin on anti-oxidation and hypercholesterolemia in rat.Metheds The rats were randomly divided into 3 groups: control group, hypercholesterolemia group and Simvastatin(5mg/kg)group.Control group was administrated with full diet, other two groups were given high cholesterol food,Simvastatin group was administrated intragastrically Simvastatin 5mg/kg simultaneously. The levels of cholesterol and anti-oxidation in plasma were detected after six weeks. Results The plasma HDL,SOD level and total anti-oxidation ability significantly increased 50%,61.12 % and 420.81%(P0.01),while,the TC and MDA level decreased 11% and 10.51%(P0.05) in Simvastatin group than those in hypercholesterolemia group in rat. Conclusions Simvastatin not only decreases cholesterol concentration, but also increases the effects of antioxidation in plasma in hypercholesterolemia rat.
