Conservation and Sustainable Exploitation of Wetland in Hongze Lake Area

The wetland of Hongze Lake area is one of the important fresh water lake wetlands in our country. It is also one of the important protection areas of wetland ecosystems in Jiangsu Province. But with the quickening population growth and economic development the contradiction of protecting, resuming and developing wetland is becoming apparent,and it embodies the bio diversity being threatened, area lessening, habitat worsening and management becoming confused. Having analyzed the main ecological functions and the major problems to the Hongze Lake wetland, this paper proposes some measures to the ecological protection and sustainable exploitation in wet lake region, i.e. cutting down the catch intensity, setting up nature reserve area, stopping plough and returning lakes, ensuring the function on adjusting flood, controlling the water quality of the upper reaches, establishing dynamic monitoring system and unified planning, perfecting the management system, etc.
