Abstract
The wind-driven flows in Lake Tai were numerically simulated using the EFDC model and the calculations agree with the observed data of water level. This shows that the model is applicable to this study. We analyzed the influences of wind field, topography and inflow / outflow on the flow characteristics of this lake. The wind plays a vital role in determination of the flow structure and it is the most sensitive factor. The influence of lake topography is significant while inflow and outflow have little effect. In the windless condition, however, the lake flow is primarily driven by the inflow and outflow that are major factors to the flow patterns in the vicinities of lake inlet and outlet.
