Abstract

Objective To establish an acute lung injury model by cotton smoke inhalation in rats. Methods Twenty-four male SD rats were randomly allocated into control group, after smoke inhalation 3h,6h and 24 h group. The changes in blood gas analysis, inflammatory mediators such as interleukin 8( IL-8) were monitored in every group. Histopathology of lung in rats were observed. Results Compared with control group. PaO2 and PaCO2were significantly decreased in every smoke inhalation group( P 0. 05). The increased of inflammatory mediators clew that lung injury were occurred after smoke inhalation in rats. Obvious edema, alveolar atrophy and inflammatory infiltration were found in smoke inhalation rats. Conclusion An acute lung injury model by cotton smoke inhalation in rats has been successfully established.
