Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of E-cadherin(E-Cad) on the invasion, metastasis and prognosis of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma. Methods The expression of E-Cad was detected in 66 cases of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma and normal mucous membrance control by immunohistochemistry S-P method. The relations of E-Cad expression with patients′ age, clinical stage, clinical type, pathological grade and lymph node metastasis were analyzed. Results Expression rate of E-Cad in largngeal squamons cell cartinoma was 3.03% and that in paracancer normal mucous membrance was 75.8%(50/66)with significant difference between them(P0.05).The negative expression rate of E-Cad had significant correlation with patients′ age, clinical stage, clinical type and lymph node metastasis(P0.05),but had no correlation with pathological grade(P0.05).Conclusion E-Cad may be an important tumour marker in invasion and metastasis mechanism of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma. It has inportant significance for judging, metastasis and prognosis of laryngeal carcinoma.
