The Adverb "zui(最)" in the Novel Water Margin

Abstract

The degree adverb zui(最) in the novel Water Margin can be classified into two categories:(i) the degree adverb is objective and relative,and represents the superlative degree;and(ii) the degree adverb is subjective and absolute,and represents fuzzy degree.Yet,it is not the only adverb that has such a feature,for some other adverbs such as po(颇),jin(仅),xiangdang(相当),ji(极),tai(太),shifen(十分),huan(还),jiao(较) also have such features.
