Abstract
In the light of the issue of a truss,FEA model with beam element and shell element were built respectively in ABAQUS,and its low order natural frequencies and mode shapes were obtained through FEA modal analysis. Then the modal analysis of the truss is conducted to exercise the system by hammering test. The results are compared between the FEA modal analysis and the test modal analysis using LMS PolyMAX.The results shows that the analytic modal results with two FEA element types are in accordance with test modal results, which the corresponding frequency errors are within 10%.The results prove that the FEA analysis is correct, which assure the correctness of the analysis of the boom system.
