The Status Quo and Development Trends of Population Migration and Flow in China

It is based on the 5th population census that the rate of population migrating is up to 9.74% and that of population flow is up to 12.33% in China. The economy situation is the dominant factor, which influence the migrating and flow population, among whom there are more females than males. And the more, the general educational standards of the migrants are higher than other population groups. There will be more and more people planning to transfer to cities owing to the gap of the social and economic development between urban and rural areas. In the light of the law of the development of urbanization, the number of marginal population which urbanization requires is less than that of rural population shifting outwards, which causing great pressure on urbanization. In order to make the rational and orderly flow of population, relevant strategies and policies should be adopted.
