Abstract
By means of external energy,low-geade thermal energy can be converted to high-grade thermal energy by a heat-pump water heater and it is thus an energy-saving installation.In this paper,the history,development and status-quo of application of heat pumps were summarized,and the working principle and energy conservation effects of air source heat pumps were analyzed.A performance comparison of air source heat pump water heaters with the conventional hot-water supply installation was carried out,including electric water heaters,oil-fired and gas-fired hot water boilers.It was therefore concluded that wider application of air source heat pumps is quite important for energy conservation and environmental protection.
