A Comparative Study of Ziprasidone and Aripiprazole in the Treatment of Schizophrenia with Predominantly Negative Symptoms

Abstract

Objective To compare the efficacy and side effects of Ziprasidone and Aripiprazole in the treatment of schizophrenia with predominantly negative symptoms.Methods 86 schizophrenia patients with predominantly negative symptoms were randomly divided into two groups and were treated with Ziprasidone and Aripiprazole for 8 weeks,respectively.The efficacies were evaluated with PANSS,SANS,CGI-GI,and the side effects were evaluated with TESS.Results Ziprasidone had the same effect as Aripiprazole,there was no significant difference in the effect on cognitive function between the two groups.Side effects of Ziprasidone were less serious than those of Aripiprazole.Conclusion Ziprasidone has clear efficacy in the treatment of schizophrenia with predominantly negative symptoms,and has light side effects.
