Inhibitory effects of allitrid on streptococcus mutans in vitro

Objective To study the inhibitory effects of allitrid on streptococcus mutans in dental caries.Methods The streptococcus mutans culture media were incubated with allitrid.The percentages of relative proliferation and bacteriostat were observed by turbidimetry.Cefradine and acetylspiramcin were used as a positive control in this study.Results Antibacterial activities of allitrid were identical with those of antibiotics.There was no significant difference between them statistically.Conclusion Allitrid has better inhibitory effects against streptococcus mutans with few side effects and antibiotics could be replaced by allitrid in dental caries.
