Abstract

Objective To study the expression of COX-2 in breast cancer tissues and its relationship with microvessel density ( MVD) and vascular endothelial growth factor ( VEGF). Primarily explored the funtion of COX-2 on the development and progression of breast cancer and its clinical value. Methods Chose 146 breast cancer samples, detected expressions of COX-2,VEGF and MVD value labeled by CD34 in these samples by immunohistochemistry SP method. Results Among 146 samples,114 cases( 78. 1% ) showed positive expression of COX-2,and 70 cases( 47. 9% ) showed high expression. The expression degree of COX-2 had nothing to do with ages, diameter of tumor and expression degree of HER-2 /neu( P 0. 05). MVD value of high expression of COX-2 group was higher than low expression of COX-2 group, and the difference was statistically significant( P 0. 01). Conclusion High expression of COX-2 plays an important role in the development of breast cancer. It can advance the formation of new vessel of breast cancer,so as to affect the development and progression of breast cancer.
