Abstract
OBJECTIVE To study the changes of T lymphocyte subsets in AIDS children during more than 12 months of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) with successful suppression of HIV replication. METHODS Total 16 AIDS children patients who had received HAART for more than 12 months were included. During HAART (including M0 and M3), the number of plasma HIV-1 RNA was measured quantitatively with the NucliSens EasyQ assay, and T lymphocyte subsets were detected with flow cytometer. RESULTS In 16 patients, viral load decreased to less than 50IU/ml at M0 and maintained to M3. CD4+ T cells and the ratio of CD4+/CD8+ did not increase obviously after 3 months. CONCLUSION Change of peripheral T lymphocyte subsets in AIDS Children with successful suppression of HIV replication was not remarkable in a short time.
