Abstract
Purpose: It is very important to depict alteration and relations of female pelvic structures in gynecotokology. In the current study, transvaginal ultrasonography (TVUS) was used to diagnose female lower urinary tract disease. Materials and Methods: 48 married female patients with urological complains and symptoms were examined by TVUS and trans-abdomen ultrasound(TAUS), the ultrasonic findings were compared with clinical findings and pathology. Results: Twenty ureter lesions, 24 bladder lesions and 4 uretheral diseases were detected by TVUS. The diagnostic accuracy of TVUS was 100%(20/20), while that of TAUS was 77.1%. 4 cases with abnormalities were showed by TVUS more clearly. In observing triangle area of bladder, TVUS was superior to TAUS in displaying location, shape and vascular distribution of tumors, ectopic opening of ureter, and vascular distribution in lesions, etc. as well as in evaluating the relation of pelvic cystic masses and bladder or urethral. Conclusion: TVUS combined with TAUS can improve the accuracy in diagnosing female pelvic diseases.
