Abstract

Based on the catalytic effect of trace chromium(Ⅵ) on the oxidation of crystallize violet with potassium bromate in the medium of H 3PO 4,a determination methed of chromium(Ⅵ) was established by catalytic spectrophotometry. The detection limit for chromium(Ⅵ) is 2.5×10 -9 g/L .The linear range of the determination is 7.4-148.0ng/mL and the recoveries are 99.6%-102.2%.The method is used for the determination of chromium(Ⅵ) in water with satisfactory results.
