The relationship between serum apolipoprotein A5 and coronary heart disease

Objective To analyze the relationship between serum apolipoprotein A5(apoA5) and lipid as well as coronary heart disease(CHD),and to observe the effect of apoA5 on the pathogenesis of CHD.Methods One hundred and fifty CHD patients and 104 healthy controls were enrolled.Serum lipid was detected by a biochemistry analyzer and serum apoA5 was quantitatively measured by a sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.Results The concentration of serum apoA5 in stable angina patients was(209.8±52.6) ng/ml,lower than that in healthy controls(231.5± 57.0) ng/ml,P0.05.Even adjusted by serum lipid,age and other factors,the difference was still statistically significant.Serum apoA5 concentration in female stable angina patients were higher than that in male patients [(239.9±53.1) ng/ml vs(194.5±41.7) ng/ml,P0.05].apoA5 was negatively correlated with age,and the concentrations of TG,TC,and lipoprotein(a)(r=-0.24,-0.27,-0.19,-0.17,respectively),and positively correlated with HDL-C(r=0.36).Serum apoA5 concentration(248.6±54.4) ng/ml of ACS group was higher than that in stable angina group(209.8±52.6) ng/ml,P0.01.Conclusion The data demonstrate that serum apoA5 concentration was negatively correlated with serum TG,Lp(a),and CHD.Serum apoA5 concentration may be an independent protective predictor of CHD.
