Homonym Abbreviations and Metaphor

Abstract
A homonym abbreviation resembles an existing word in form but differs in sense.Like metaphor,homonym abbreviation is a means to create new words.However,a word created this way is not the result of the metaphorical use of the existing word,which is a homonym of the abbreviation.Closely related to its full form,such an abbreviation can preserve the metaphor in it,and may also develop new metaphorical senses.That may be viewed as the link between the homonym abbreviations and metaphor.
