Abstract
Objective: To study the effect of base metal ceramic crown on beagle canine tooth and its periodontium. Methods: Experimental gingival inflammation was made up artificially and following-up observation on it was carried out at 192 sites for 0~6 months.Aspartate aminotransferase(AST) levels in gingival crevicular fluid(GCF) at up to 670 positions were detected to see the developmental changes,in 0 month,1 month,3 months and 6 months after putting on porcelain crown. The periodontium indexes including plaque index(PLI),periodontial depth(PD),and sulcus bleeding index(SBI) were recorded simultaneously, and the changes were analyzed. Results: AST activity in GCF gradually increased following the intensification of destroy in periodontium.PLI,PD,and SBI correspondingly aggravatedly changed too. Conclusions: The margin of base metal ceramic crown has some irritative effect to periodontium and can cause cementopathia such as gingivitis etc.Since AST level in GCF is closely related with the severity of gingivitis,it can be used as reference index to show the severe degree of gingivitis.
