Abstract
Objective To investigate the intrinsic radiosensitivity of 11 glioma cell lines in vitro. Methods Eleven glioma cell lines, i.e. T98G, SF295, Skmg-1, Skmg-4, MGR-1, MGR-2, MGR-3, UWR-7, SF767, SHG-44 and uw28 were used in this study. The intrinsic radiosensitivity parameters of 11 human glioma cell lines were determined in vitro by clonogenic assay after different doses of X-irradiation (0~8Gy). The survival curves were generated and mathematically analysed by using the L-Q model to obtain the radiosensitivity parameters, alpha, beta, SF_2 (the surviving fraction at 2 Gy) and SF-8 (the surviving fraction at 8 Gy). Results There were great differences in the radiosensitivity among 11 glioma cell lines. For 11 glioma cell lines, the planting efficiency varied from 1.61% to 40.89%. The mean SF_2 was 0.44±0.10 with range of 0.32 to 0.59 and the mean SF_8 was 0.42×10~(-2)±1.1×10~(-2) with range of 0.00 to 3.71×10~(-2). Conclusion The intrinsic radiosensitivity varies in different human glioma cells lines.
