Abstract

Communicative approaches in language teaching has been widely accepted in ELT.The theories underlying the communicative approach in language teaching has also exerted an influence on language testing.This paper explores the theoretical foundations of communicative language testing.It defines the features of a communicative test and identifies the strengths and weaknesses of a communicative test.
