Abstract
The effect of cerium element on the as-cast microstructure of a hypereutectic high chromium cast iron containing 4.0wt% C-20.0wt% Cr was studied by means of optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry. The results indicate that the primary carbides are refineds and spheroidized with the addition of suitable amount of cerium.
