Abstract

This study examined the tangential peal force applied on the crank in cycling at different cadence using SRM high performance egrometer and Powertec system. The pedal force data were collected from eight subjects at 500W across cadence ranging from 100 to 140 RPM.Results showed that the positive average, average maximum of both crank tangential pedal force(Fe),the average and peak of the sum of both crank systematically decreased as cadence increased(p0.01).The position of start and end of left and right positive average Fe,maximum and minimum of both crank Fe,peak of the sum of both crank Fe systematically advanced as cadence increased(p0.01).The higher the cadence, the lower the Fe curve in top half of cycling and the higher the cadence, the higher the Fe curve in bottom half of cycling.
