Abstract

Recent advances in studies on action mechanism and application of laccase mediator system are reviewed in this paper. Main catalytic reactions of laccase occur in active center formed by copper cations. The rate and efficiency of catalytic reaction are increased and the range of substrates is expanded when redox mediator is in combination with laccase. This laccase mediator system has been widely used in pulp bleaching, textile biofinishing and environmental protection processes.
