Abstract
Objective: Investigate the number of roots,the number of canals, and canal morphology in the elderly using cone beam computer tomography. Methods: the aged patient can keep head motionless during examination of cone beam computer tomography. It was viewed and analyzed the scanning three-dimensional image of root and canal of mandibular molar. Result: 166 aged patients was examination by cone beam computer tomography. It was investigated 532 mandibular molars. It found that mesioroot is single root in mandibular molar. The double root is only in distal root of mandibular first molar, and C shape root is only in mandibular second molar. Mesial root of two canals mandibular molar were occupied 95.26% in first molar and 50.38% in second molar. Distal root of one root canal mandibular molar were occupied 64.60% in first molar and 56.97% second molar. It was found that 94 C-shaped root in mandibular second molar has 58 C-shaped root canal. Conclution: The root change occurs in distal root of mandibular first molar.It is noticed that C-shaped root of mandibular molar doesn’t all be C-shaped root canal.
