Abstract
From four aspects, the paper expounds the great contribution Deng Xiaoping made to Marxism. He upheld the scientificness of Marxism and its position ; he approved Lenin and Mao Zedong and their positions in history,and proposed that we should understand the scientific system of Marxism-Leninism and Mao zedong Thought completely and correctly; he summarised experience and lessons from the development of Marxism and the movement of Communism; he combined Marxism with the current China practice and the characteristics of the times, and constructed the theory of advocating socialism with Chinese characteristics.
