Abstract
Sichuan was a representative of the Mandarin of southwest China.Because of the influence of generations of immigrants, especially migration to Sichuan at the order of the Emperor in the later period of the Ming Dynasty and the early period of the Qing Dynasty, the modern Sichuan is quite different from the before the Ming dynasty and the language of the later ancient times.Through a study of the related historical documents, the paper concludes that Shu dialect refers to either the language, the popular saying or the book Dialect written by Li Shangyin in the Tang Dynasty and Li Shi in the Ming Dynasty.
