Abstract
Based on the data on lithostratigraphy, magnetic stratigraphy and dating from KT2 drill in the middle part of the Tarim Basin, this paper mainly deals with the characters of sedimentary cycles and the stages of the basin subsidence in the region. The results indicate that there existed 4 polarity subzones in the Matsuyama Polarity Zone, there existed 2 polarity subzones in the Gauss Polarity Zone. Moreover, the stratigraphic framework since Pliocene (3.40Ma) were established in the Tarim Basin.
