Abstract

Objective To explore the curative effects of TACE on the prevention the recurrence after radical resection of large heputocellular carcinoma. Methods From January 1997 to December 2002, 68 cases received radical resection of large hepatocellular carcinoma were divided into TACE group (24 cases) and control group (44 cases) and 1, 2 and 3 years cumulative recurrence rate and survival rate were analyzed comparatively. Results 1, 2 and 3 years recurrence rates of TACE group and control group were 16.7%, 34.3%, 49.5% and 36.4%, 58.0%, 68.5% respectively. And those of cumulative survival rates were 83.3%, 70.2%, 53.7% and 63.6%, 48.3%, 25.3% respectively. There was significant difference between two groups (P0.05). Conclusion Adjuvant interventional therapy is an effective method for preventing the postoperative recurrence after radical resection of large hepatocellular carcinoma, and it can improve the longterm survival rate.
