Abstract
According to the data of regional tests from 2010 to 2012 in Jiangsu province, the major agronomic and quality characters were compared between hybrid late japonica rice and conventional late-maturing middle japonica rice. The results showed that: in comparison with conventional late-maturing middle japonica rice, hybrid late japonica rice had larger spikes, more grains, higher yield, and relatively lower seed setting rate. The main quality characters( except for grain shape) of hybrid late japonica rice were generally lower than those of conventional late-maturing middle japonica rice. Finally, the author discussed the existent problems and developmental direction of hybrid late japonica rice in Jiangsu province.
