Abstract

A new chromogenic reagent,7-(2-pyridylazo)-8-hydroxyquinoline was synthesized. The reagent structure was identified by IR spectroscopy and 1HNMR spectroscopy.Optimum conditions of the color reaction of 7-(2-pyridylazo)-8-hydroxyquinoline with Ni(Ⅱ) were studied. It was found that the color reagent reacted with Ni(Ⅱ) to form a stable purple complex in HAc-NaAc buffer solution at pH=5.0.The maxiumum absorption wavelength and apparent molar absorptivity were found to be at 560 nm and 1.873×104 L·mol-1·cm-1,respectivelv.Beer's law was obeyed in the range of 0~1.2 μg/mL for Ni(Ⅱ).
