Abstract
Diamond turning can be defined as a machining process in which an accurate machineand a sharp single crystal diamond tool are utilized to produce parts of high accuracy in form and surface finish. According to the diamond turning experiments of aluminum alloys, a surface roughness prediction model can be established by regression analysis, although the model has been developed and tested from very few experimental results, it can provide a large amount of machining information. An optimization program is used to realize selection of the optimum cutting parameters during process planning, utilizing the results in ultra-precision machining, we can get the super smooth machined surface.
