On Wang Guowei's Aesthetic Scope

The system of Wang Guo-wei's aesthetic scope experiences three stages. The earliest one was directly from Kant and Schopenhauer. Later he began to pay more attention to the practice of Chinese literature and put forward classical elegance. At last he came to the level of completing the structure of the aesthetic system. Although Wang's system succeeds to the Chinese culture, his views are westernized. The classical aesthetics centers on the relationship between the writer and the his works, while Wang, centering on the relationship between the writer and social reality, transformed the origin of significance of the art of literature from the explanation to the examination of the real life, reorganized the system of classical aesthetic scope and realized the modern transformation of classical aesthetics.
