Language and Linguistic Study in the Context of Anthropology--the Research Field of Linguistic Anthropology

The understanding of language is greatly deepened because of the definition of linguistic anthropology and the research findings concerning linguistic practice, speech act, pointing, and participating. According to linguistic anthropology, a marginal discipline, language is a communicative instrument, a mode of thinking, and a cultural practice or a form of action. This idea has been exerting influences on other subjects of social sciences and humanities from which linguistic anthropology draws its sustenance, and it is of great significance to the understanding of language to human being. Linguistic anthropology means language and linguistic study in the context of anthropology. It regards language as the source of culture and studies speech as a cultural practice. Moreover, it is the linguistics from the perspective of anthropology.
