Comparison of Xu Wei′s Plays with Tang Xianzu′s from the Perspective of Yangming Schools

Xu Wei and Tang Xianzu play great roles in the history of Chinese ancient operas. As both of them were born in the Ming dynasty, they were unavoidably influenced by Yangming schools and they paid lots of attention to the inner world, which are expressed in their works as the pursuit for a natural literate quality and style, and the pursuit for distinguished art. The present author made some comparative analysis on their creative features from the perspective of Yangming schools in order to show the similarity and difference in their works and to explore the connotation of their works.
