Abstract
Based on the chemical and mineralogical characteristics of the tailings from a lead-and-zinc mine containing relatively high level of quartz and dolomite, studies were carried out for recovering valuable element of zinc by a regrinding-flotation process and for utilizing the tailings as raw material for cement-mixture,concrete aggregate and block brick aggregate respectively. The results show that the zinc minerals in the tailings can be recovered effectively and the tailings may be utilized as raw material not only for brick-making,but also for cement-mixture.However,it is rather difficult to use the tailings as raw material for fine concrete aggregate.
