Abstract
Large-sized monodispersed polystyrene microspheres were prepared by dispersion polymerization using polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) as a dispersant,anhydrous ethanol (ETOH) as dispersion medium and azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN) as an initiator. The effects of monomer concentration on the size and size dispersion of the microspheres were studied based on the system. The results showed that the size and size dispersion coefficient of the microspheres increased with increasing monomer concentration. The microspheres with 5.2 μm diameter and 0.045 of dispersion coefficient were obtained under optimized condition of 24 wt% of monomer concentration.
