Abstract
Objective:To investigate the expression of osteopontin(OPN) and p21 in primary colorectal cancer(PCC) tissue. Methods:Expressions of OPN and p21 in primary colorectal cancer tissues from 60 patients with primary colorectal cancer were detected using SP immunohistochemical technique. Results:OPN and p21 expression was mainly located in the cytoplasm of PCC cell. The positive rates of OPN and p21 in primarycolorectal cancer tissues were 66.7% and 61.7%,respectively.The positive rates of OPN and p21 in primary colorectal cancer tissues with metastasis were 80.0% and 73.3%,respectively,which were higher than that in primary colorectal cancer tissues without metastasis.OPN and p21 expressions were remarkably correlated with the metastasis in PCC(P0.05).Cases both OPN and p21 erpressed in primary colorectal cancer tissue were 33,out of them,24 cases had metastasis, however,in the cases both OPN and p21 negative expressed, only 1 case had metastasis. Both OPN and p21 expression was remarkably related with the metastasis in PCC(P0.05).The positive rates of OPN and p21 weren not related to the size of tumor, gender, age and stage of tumor, while they were correlated with metastasis of tumor. Conclusion:Both OPN and p21 are significantly related to the metastasis of PCC and over expression of both OPN and p21 has some predicting significance of metastasis for primary colorectal cancer.
