Abstract
The acidity of ionic liquid [Emim]HSO4 was investigated by IR spectroscopy with pyridine as probe.Ionic liquid [Emim]HSO4 was used as catalyst in the esterification of acetic acid and alcohol. The effect of reaction conditions on esterification was studied.Conversion rate of acetic acid was 76.73% and selectivity of ethyl acetate was 100% under the following optimal conditions:reaction temperature 40 ℃,reaction time 1 h,ionic liquid:reactant=1:5.The ionic liquid can be easily separated from the products.
