Abstract
Glycolic acid was synthesized from choloroacetic acid and sodium hydroxide with sodium iodine as catalyst. The effect factors on glycolic acid ratio were studied(reaction temperature, reaction time, and the ratio of catalyst to choloroacetic acid). The optimum reaction conditions are as follows: reaction temperature is 90 ℃;reaction time is 8 hours;the weight percent of catalyst sodium iodine to choloroacetic acid was 0.8%.The yield of glycolic acid is 73.1%.
