Abstract
Objective To study the relationship between serum levels of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)around operation and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).Methods The serum levels of VEGF were detected in 120 patients with NSCLC and 60 healthy persons by ELISA method. Results The serum levels of VEGF around operation in NSCLC patients was significantly higher than that in healthy people (P0.01),respectively is:(270.8±82.4) pg/ml、(302.7±85.6) pg/ml、(523.8±91.3) pg/ml and(91.4±40.7) pg/ml.②The serum levels of VEGF in NSCLC patients on the seventh postoperative day was significantly higher than that before operation and on the first postoperative day (P0.01),respectively is:(523.8±91.3) pg/ml、 (270.8± 82.4) pg/ml and(302.7±85.6) pg/ml.③The serum levels of VEGF in NSCLC patients was closely related to the size of the primary tumor, lymph node status and stages, but not to the grade of cell differentiation, type of tumor, age, sex of the patients(P0.05).conclusion:Increasing of serum levels of VEGF exists in NSCLC patients and the levels of VEGF plays an important role in tumor growth and lymphatic metastasis,The levels of VEGF maybe an indicator for prognosis.
